The 'F40' fault code indicates a Cooktop Lockout error. This error can prevent the self clean from working. The failure could be caused from a loose wire connection between the Electronic Oven Control (EOC) board and the Cooktop Lockout Control board. It could have a failed Electronic Oven Control (EOC0 board or a failed Cooktop Lockout Control board if there is no loose wiring connection between the two control boards. I technician will be needed to diagnose the failure. I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your range.

Hi Miele, I bought an induction cooktop 3 years ago which cost me 1000E and last week goes defect with code fe31. Local Miele service visited me and was quoted 550 Euro for a spare part + 70 E labour. No sane person would spend this money for repair.
